An experiment in a brief daily(ish) account of our learning.
5 year old woke up and read some of the Wizard of Oz to me
Both children constructed buildings from our Kapla planks with their dad
We took an unexpectedly long walk to meet some homeschool friends at a playground. We covered off some more of the Thames Path and discussed how I can tell the difference between honey bees, bumble bees, and wasps.
We stopped in a secondhand bookshop and picked up a book of science experiments, a book about Vikings, and a book about fossils and rocks.
Back at home, the children watched a couple of episodes of Puffin Rock, and my son later told me of his suspicions that it might actually be a science programme…
More reading—Wizard of Oz and Beezus and Ramona
Math for Love’s Multiplication by Heart
Several experiments exploring surface tension, inspired by our new science book.
5 year old practised some letter formation, and 7 year old did some maths work adding 2 2-digit numbers using a hundred square.
A friend came to join the children for tea and we did more times tables, including working out some challenging ones that they initially thought were so impossible as to be wildly amusing.
For bedtime stories I read more Wizard of Oz followed by a little of the new Vikings book, and the children then read to themselves before lights out.
Is this interesting and/or useful? I’ll try it out for a bit but I’d love your comments.
