Good question! It’s not guaranteed but it does seem to happen more often than not. think it’s a combination of factors. 1. My husband and I are both keen readers so the children definitely see reading as a pleasure rather than a chore. 2. I am really not a morning person so they’re better off with a good book than a monosyllabic Mummy. 3. Whenever they have a new haul of library books or a new book we’ve bought for them, we leave it in their room the night before so when they wake up it’s the first thing they see and they often can’t wait to dig in. I have to say it is a very nice way to start the day!
