Hi, Catherine — If it isn’t too late, my 9 year-old son would love to participate. We’re in the US. Great idea, thank you.

Absolutely, not too late at all. I think I’m just going to leave it running permanently. I’ll add you to the list.

Thank you for this. I have a 7 year-old boy here in California who would love a pen pal. At least, I think he will once I explain what that is.

Hi! I'd be very interested in penpals for my children. My daughter is 7 and my son will be 5 next Tuesday. We live in Switzerland and they are bi-lingual English-French, if that might be helpful to anyone interested in exposing their kids to a second language (I'll make sure it stays at an appropriate level).

A pen pal sounds wonderful! My son is 7 and can’t have enough friends... We live in the United States. I’ve been enjoying reading about your homeschool. We are moving from unschooling to more of a planned learning style as well, so finding you has been nice timing for me.

We'd love to do a penpal scheme! My children are 4 and 7 year old girls. Also, how do you source your library books? Do you just browse the shelves?

I do just browse the shelves, book by book. I do a lot of book research so I know a good one when I see it (though I fear I must still miss loads of good ones too!). Yesterday we spent three hours in the library so there was plenty of time for me to browse their favourite subject areas, and my own!

I am waiting for the day when I can browe shelves with happy children!!

Ha! It will come. It helps that the particular library we were in is really well set up for children. There are toys and cosy reading spaces and the children can move from reading to playing and back again. Before I had children I was very snooty and libraries that were full of toys for children, but (surprise, surprise) I have changed my tune!
